If you are a pants person (I'm not) I suggest these! I'm not a pants person because my body is bizarre and hates pants, but I wish for nothing more than to be a pants person.

I'm wearing this right now. It is awesome.

I can't get away with strapless, but if I could this dress would be mine.

Yes, I got this. It's cute although I can't go for my usual seconds and thirds at meals b/c when full this is a tummy dress. Thank god for spanx!

This jacket is a cheaper version of the one below - hoooray!

And this balloon "swacket" is top notch. And $33. Deal. I call it "Falcon-chic".

Asian Persuasion - Yes please YESSTYLE!

If you live in San Francisco you are the luckiest person in the world as far as I'm concerned. No, not because it's a great city but because Yes Style - my favorite website just opened a store there!

For $50 you can't get much better than this amazing coat.

Mark my words - this is the new "in" length. Or I'm just officially old. I'm okay with either.

Toddler-chic in full effect.

This place is hard because returning things is a made pain in the tuckus, but this dress just might warrant the risk.

I can't tell if I would actually wear this but I love it! It's tween-chic but I'm a tween at heart. And for $27.50, aren't we all?

Books are the Gift that Keep on Giving!

Books are amazing because they make great gifts and are cheap and if you are seriously broke all you need is an ID to get a library card. If you have no proof of identification you most likely aren't on a computer stumbling across the only blog with less page views than this.

So...with that said, if you need to read away the weeks in between Thanksgiving and whatever you celebrate in December I highly recommend the following:

Put this in your bathroom and get cozy. Your welcome.

Coffee tables will never be safe again when this book is displayed on it. Not sure what that means but get it and find out!

Nothing says "BEST GIFT EVER" like this book!

I saw someone reading this on the subway the other day and it inspired me. I watched all his movies a couple years ago so now I'll try my hand at reading his books. Color me laughing for several months!

I haven't read this one yet but it's on my list and if we run into each other we'll have something to talk about. Finally! And if you don't want to know about the lives of Carol King and her weird controlling husband and who "You're So Vain" is actually about then we don't have much in common anyway. No wonder we never have anything to talk about.

Premature Holiday Wish Listing - Fishs Eddy Edition

This store is amazing. If you happen to be in Union Square in NYC anytime soon please do yourself and everyone you need to buy gifts for a favor and stop in. You will leave happy (and sad that you are leaving) and with a large tote bag full of your entire shopping list. Unless you are buying gifts for children. Don't go in here in that is the case.

It's weird stuff like this that makes me the happiest in the world. Please tell my mother to insert said horse into stocking. Thank you.

If you didn't know, coasters make for great stocking stuffers!

You don't celebrate Christmas? Well then these Heroes of the Torah glasses will be the perfect Hannauahahkahaah gift for Uncle Saul! Or for me because I'm marrying a Jew and I love these glasses and want to drink Kosher wine out of them. I love them!

Maybe Dad is sad that election year is 3 years away - brighten his day with some political mugs and pair it with some good coffee!

Nut bowls/ramicans/olive pit receptacles/call them what you will but please call them awesome.

Uhhhh...Remember Me?

Sorry y'all - this poor girl got herself a jiz-ob and is now making money!!! Whassssuuup?!?!? That means my e-shopping has recently gotten a little out of control as I spend my lunch hour (i.e. ten minutes at my desk while i scarf down usually Korean food in record time and make everyone around me uncomfortable) perusing the internet aisles looking for sweet wardrobe enhancers. Bring it!

I bought this jacket and I love it. It's a bit on the pricey side and ultimately does not fit me (a little on the small side) but I still wear it and it's a serious compliment magnet.

This skirt is a must have and it's from Asia which means it's automatically awesome.
I want these because they are cheap, cartoonish and I can walk in them. I bought a chunky wedge and seriously am a full on palsy victim in them because I have no skillz. None.

I probably have 5 bags that look like this but some dude tried grabbing at my purse last night and so I'm thinking I need more messenger and less over the shoulder if I'm going to be the anti-mugging bait I've always wanted to be.

Rachel Roy at Macy's

I'm not a frequenter of Macy's, but I do find good stuff there when I do make my bi-annual trip. Today at lunch I thought I'd stop by and see what's going on...and holy cow I met Rachel Roy! Okay, so I didn't meet her but my eyes met her clothes and I'm impressed with Macy's. They have an exclusive line from this woman who I have never heard of but most likely gets mistaken for Rachel Ray, which is unfortunate. But check out these items and stop by a store if you can b/c there's a lot that isn't on the site.

Home girl does jewels too.

This dress is cute and there is a similar one at the store that is black and white and all things that dreams are made of.

I actually bought this coat. And I did the open up the credit card thing so I would get 15% off. I'm a cheapskate people. So what.

Wool Coats For Under 110 Bones

You know you wanna look like crazy Jesse from NYC Prep. Now you can for only $92!

For $79 everyone could use a lime green coat.

I made the limit $110 because this Quicksilver coat is all kinds of cute for only $109!

And for $40 you probably want a greenish "trapeze" coat as well...whatever that means.

$98 bucks at Fred Flare!

Falling Into Fall...isn't that a cute headline?

Fall is coming and that means cute sweaters, a light jacket and scarves! Everyone looks good in the Fall because they are covered up. Those girls on the subway who wear tights in July no longer have to be self-conscious about whatever it is about their legs that they are self-conscious about. It's a good thing for everyone. Here's what my closet will look like this Fall:

Get yer coat on. No, seriously, it's gonna get chilly outside!

One jumper is all you need - also an investment but I swear you'll wear it at least once a week. I know the people I work with must think I am a serious dirtbag, but I can't help it that jumpers are easy and comfortable and flattering and look different depending on what you wear underneath it. Here is one option.

This year I think I'm finally going to invest in some Sven boots. You can get them any way you want (it's call customizing) and you can get them resoled every year for a mere $30. So while they are a big cost up front, they will feel brand new every year. AND they are water proof and lined in something soft and warm that comes from a farm animal most likely. TRANSLATION: worth every penny.

This is called the Green Point Dress and I live in Greenpoint so I figured it was a sign and so I bought it and when I get it I'm gonna wear it. Done.

I'M GETTING MARRIED!!!

I forgot to mention that I am a future Bridezilla! It's very exciting and even more exciting is going to be trying to throw a killer party on a serious dime. First things first - the dress. Please send me any suggestions you might have of where I can find cheap awesome dresses that just so happen to be white. Here is what I'm going for - short and fun. I've found a few dresses in photos I've seen of other people's weddings and also just photos of dresses that I think are awesome. But I have no idea where to actually find these dresses.

Here's some inspiration (also above):

I love this. I would need it to be a bit shorter but I love it.

Obvs I would opt for no bird on my head. And no belt. Not that one. But maybe like a big ol' orange sash or something. And fun bright shoes. Yes please!

Modcloth Picks of the Week!

I've been so lazy writing this friggin' blog (b/c I have a job now and hopefully you'll be able to see the show I'm working on soon enough!) but I want to pretend like I have some reoccuring features. So it's that time of the week, folks! I'm gonna pick my favorite things from my favorite websites. Wrrd.

This is me-chic. Need it. Want it. It comes in white too. Real cute.

Sans that tie waste and plue a cute woven belt I think you could have a hit outfit on your hands. Try somethign with a puff sleeve underneath. Just thinking aloud here, keep it moving...

I feel like this would make me look like a wheel of brie, but I like it.

French Connection Is Having a Huge Sale!

FCUK (so suggestive - we get it) is an overpriced mall store. I know. But I will say that their stuff does fit very well and I've enjoyed quite a few of their items. They are having a huge sale right now because apparently I'm not the only one who thinks their clothes are not worth the money. But, I love a sale! I suggest going into a store if you can because they have much better stuff than the online store has to offer.

I love a high waisted skirt. I suggest getting this at the store though. I feel like FC makes the fatal flaw of using really heavyweight fabrib and so their skirts feel like a mother effing sack. Not cool, FC. Not cool at all. But still quite cute.

I think this top is real cute but it feels like something I would have worn in 2005. Not that that's a bad thing but I might be too old for this. But I kinda want to try it out...

I swear to the bones of the great Houdini that I have this top in my closet. I'm quite pleased with it and I highly suggest you be pleased with it as well.

I swear to the bones of sweet baby jesus I'm wearing this top right now but under a black jumper and it's pretty much the cutest thing I've had on all week. I love it. Not for 88 bones I don't but I'll throw down 40 for it. Fo' Sho'.

This lil' number has party written all over it and if I ever let my shoulders be bare in public it would be on me right now as I am ready to effin' throw down.

Anna Sui is Coming to Target! 500 Exclamation Points!

So I am way behind the times but I just found out that Anna Sui is hopping on the Target train and I really couldn't be happier. I'm dying of excitement and the line is inspired by Gossip Girl. Of course. And you know what? I do not mind one bit. My Fall wardrobe has "Blair-chic" written all over it. I pretty much love every piece but I could do without the edgy Jenny Humphrey looks. Not interested.

The line hits the stores September 13th and will only be available till October 17th. My online shopping skills are going to be put to the test but I'm working on my clicks per minute in order to ensure my shopping cart is full and ready upon the line being posted.

See y'all in the Target line!

Gilt Group - Get On It

So there is this site called Gilt Group and it's basically for people who love designer clothes but can't afford them at their regular retail value.  Now, this is not for the folks who won't spend more than $20 a dress.  It's a little more for people who will spend, just not that much.  I like to call them sophisticated cheapskates.  And I salute you.

You can either sign up for this group OR you can email me your email address and I'll invite you which will then grant me a $25 coupon on my next order.  And I'll love you forever.  My birthday is coming up so this is kinda the perfect gift!

The sales on this site change every couple days so if you don't see something you love now just wait it out and it's sure to come.  My friends are constantly showing up to parties in amazing frocks and every time I ask where it came from the answer seems to always be "Gilt Group".  Sold!

Email me for an invite:  comeoncolleen@gmail.com

Also - there's a chance I might have already blogged about this.  Deal with it.

Also also - I'm sorry I haven't been blogging.  I gots me a job so I'm trying to bring home the bacon.

Summer Is Here

It happened.  Pretty much exactly like I predicted.  Mother Nature pulled a fast one on us East Coasters and went from frigid cold to steamy hot in a matter of hours.  So much for Spring!  So Summer is here and that means it's time to start thinking about what you can wear without visibly sweating through it (if you have a problem like I do) and what you can wear that is cute and easy and breezy and will make you a beautiful cover girl.  Here we go!

Um, I think everyone should have wooden earrings this summer.

This lil' sandal is my favorite most comfortable summer shoe in the world.  It's like walking on clouds.  Promise.

I know not everyone is a fan of these tops but I sure am!

This boho-chic top says, "I'm dressed appropriately without rubbing it in your face."  Does that make sense?

The Boyfriend Blazer is tres essential for those breezy summer nights.

Wednesday, April 1, 2009

You know, after that last post I realized that two of the items on there are from Forever 21.  So, here are some cute things from a site that I usually forget about because it is weird and Christian and not that there is anything wrong with being religious but I do not like it when "John 3:16" is printed on the bottom of my bag filled with slutty clothes.  There, I said it.

Ain't nothing slutty about this plaid dress though!  It's cute and summery.  Wear it to your first summer picnic and feel precious.

This jacket is Michael Jackson-chic and I approve this message.

Uh-oh, more cute spring booties!  Weeee!

You know, these flats will get a lot more wear than you think.  I think they will replace my standard summer reds.

This tunic is half Real Housewives and half just plain awesome.  I bet it's just as cute without the belt too.

Those hard to find items...

So you have this dress, right?  And it's plum and you are thinking, "How the H am I going to find shoes to match?"  You are also probably cursing yourself for buying a dress that you can't match shoes to, but that's for you to deal with privately.  But, about the shoes...well, folks, I have the answer:  Shopstyle.com.  This site is pretty amazing.  It pretty much takes anything you can buy and puts it in one searchable place and then it finds it for you and then takes you directly to where you can buy it.  It's like Google for clothes.  For reals.  Your welcome.

Desperately seeking Desperately Seeking Susan boots?  Done and doner.

Love giraffes?  Pissed no one puts them adult clothing?  Solution

Do you look great in green but can't find a cute green dress you can afford for the summer?  I found it!  And all I did was type in "green dress" and tada!  It's friggin' magic peeps.

So what about the plum dress?  Click yer heels in these 3 times and say "There's no place like Shop Style."

Things I Want

Spring is here and even though I am unemployed there are several things I'm coveting for the warm weather.  Operation: Get A Job is in full effect so until I actually succeed I need to pinch more pennies, but once I cash in that first pay check all bets are off.  I plan to single handedly turn this bitch of an economy around - watch out retailers, I WILL be back!

I'm actually not going to wait for a paycheck and will instead use $30 from my unemployment check to get these to me ASAP.  Check please!

Every girl needs a summer LBD (little black dress, duh) and I think this one might be mine.

This belt might also have to go in the "can't wait, need now" pile.

This dress will make your mother happy that you've been looking through her old photos.

Tunics and Mexico-chic are two things that will never go out of style.  Therefore this lil' frock should stay in your closet for years to come.  Your welcome!
