Big Sale At My Favorite Brooklyn Store!

Dear Fieldbinder is one seriously awesome and expensive store that is in Carroll Gardens in Brooklyn.  They have high fashion that I surely cannot afford.  But starting 12/27 they are having a serious blowout sale on ALMOST (key word) everything!  Anywhere from 30% to 75% off!  I don't know how to cut and paste on this thing (which is a serious problem) but here are some highlights from the email they sent me.

Pretty things from this brand I don't know - Les Prairies de Paris.  Sounds expensive!  (P.S. This is the only dress I could find online - it's not very cute but the pics I couldn't save were very cute - look at their website to see!)

J Brand jeans are now $102!!!  Seems like a lot to me because I only wear dresses but for those denim lovers out there I'm sure it's a steal!

Dresses and tops from Eskell were close to $400 and are now just over $100!!!

Angela Adams

T'was the night before Christmas and all through the house...you have gifts for no one except a small crumb for a mouse.  So you are broke like everyone else and you have no gifts except for some homemade I.O.U. cards.  Big whoop.  When you finally hit the jackpot and can catch up on wedding gifts/holidays gifts may I suggest looking into this website for designer of all things whimsically amazing?  May I????  Angela Adams has designed amazing rugs and wall hangings and glasses that make me want to work much harder for much more money so that my home may be filled with beautiful things from her website.  Oh, to be an adult...

This is a great rug and it's on sale and it's adorable and it's going to mine if I have any say in anything.

Oh how this tray makes me want to be a homemaker and entertainer.  I shall one day do both!  The woman who really has it all!

I just sent my boyfriend an email asking him if we'll be able to hang this rainbow print in our new home.  Fingers crossed he says yes!!!

This rug is hands down my favorite (I want this to be my home) but I'm not sure where on the site it is so I'm linking to Ryan's site because I found out about this from her blog.   Thanks Ryan!!!

New Website Alert!

My friend Sarah sent me this site - Shop Mamie - and it's totally PGCG approved for awesome-blossom-ness.  I'm slightly suspect of their poor man's Denise Richards models but I'm willing to overlook that.  Everyone together now... "Thanks Sarah!"

This high-waisted skirt is pretty much my skirt ever.

Gotta love a decorative top.

I'll take this dress from day to play and then I'll hate myself for using the Today Show phrase "day to play".

MINKPINK

I got a new dress!!!  I got it at a very fancy pants store that I love browsing at but usually leave defeated because I can't afford a single thing.  Except they started carrying a very affordable line!  And I picked this dress out before I even knew it only cost $62!!!  The brand is called MINKPINK and they are carried at Urban Outfitters and maybe Macy's or some other big big mall type store (yes, also known as a department store).  They are from the big Outback Steakhouse - Australia!!

OMG - finally the daughter of the Chief has her own version of a tuxedo shirt!!!

I'm not a huge fan of tanks but I AM a huge fan of eagles.

I'm so happy that the 90's are popular again.  I love these floral prints

This dress is described as having a "wet look".  Sold to December 31st!!

I see my friend Margot in this navajo-chic dress.

Revolve Clothing is having a serious sale!  Get out yer wallets and start stocking up on any of what seems like 100's of brands that they have.  I can't quite wrap my head around what their warehouse must look like but it must be the biggest closet in the world.  So use the promo code "dec333" and get 33% off!  It's good for a week.  Don't mention it.

I really hate to say it but Juicy Couture makes really cute clothes.  I despise those velour jumpsuits that seem as though they come with a free small dog in a Louis Vuitton toy puppy pack, but other than those they seemed to nail it.  Like with this nearly perfect black dress.  I am a Pittsburgh Steelers fan so I'm just a big ol' sucker for black and gold.

Even these Juicy socks are great!

Finally get those Frye boots you've been eyeing for a couple years now.  And you can get these re-soled every year from Frye for like $20 - it's a wise investment.

This Ella Moss dress is real real cute.  It's a lil' bit pregnant so I'm not sure it would be cute on me (because I am constantly looking like I'm in my second trimester) but I think this would be adorbs on someone a lil' bit taller.  Color me Skeelow!

Dear Santa...

Here is my Christmas list so if you are MY BOYFRIEND or MY FRIEND or MY PARENTS or MY SISTER then I suggest that you take from this list when purchasing.  If you know someone who is similar to me then I suggest to take from this list when purchasing for them.  If you know someone who is hard to buy for then go with a gift card.  Or get them something silly from a store with a gift receipt so they can return it and get themselves something they really want.  This is your opportunity to be super ridick.  Make it count!

I used to have this old lady head lamp and it was super awesome and then I have a friggin subletter who friggin broke it.  Moral of the story is don't let strangers live in your stuff.  Especially if it's your favorite stuff.  But good thing I have cheap taste and love the internet because that means there is no such thing as one of a kind!!!  Woo Hoo!

Gifts are awesome because they are the perfect reason to get things you don't need.  And I have no need whatsoever for these log bowls but dear lord, how friggin' cool are they?!?!  I'm really into them.  I don't even know what I'll do with them but I'm happy just to look at them.

My boyfriend (sup sup!!) and I are moving in together in March.  This means that I'm officially an adult and am making mature decisions and one of those decisions is to have weird things like coasters laying around the house.  And so these cool letter coasters from Veer on are my list.

I'm obsessed with cults and am always interested in Jonestown.  That's why "Raven: The Untold Story of the Rev. Jim Jones and His People" by Tim Reiterman is numero uno on my list this year.

I like plants but I don't like to take care them.  That means that I like the look of plants just like I like the look of a cat awaiting my return home.  But I hate cleaning out that litter box.  So I'd like to make watering plants fun with this log cabin watering can.  I already gave my cat away (R.I.P. Nightlife!  I'll love you forever!!!) so all I got are plants!

Necessary Objects

Necessary Objects is a neat-o brand and me likey.  I just watched Teen Witch for the first time ever.  I know, how did I ever survive adolescence?  I am not quite sure but color my life changed forever.  Teen Witch is the best movie ever.  So is Teen Wolf.  And those are both now necessary objects in my life and so therefore I'm trying to relate them to this blog with the bran Necessary Objects.  I'm also two glasses of wine in the hole so maybe I don't need to spell this all out for you.  Deal with it!

This back to basics grey skirt can go with just about anything.  Even that shirt that Stiles wears when Scott tells him he's a wolf.  A teenage wolf.  I think it says "What are you looking at pencil dick?"  Anyone remember?

This patchwork bag is tres-oh-so-80's-cool.  And it's cheap and not real leather.  Triple whammy!!!

Well, I only mentioned two movies so this is all you get.  I can't find anything else from these guys that I like a bunch.  So this is it!!!  Ta-dah!!!!

Socks, Socks & More Socks!!!

Know someone who loves socks?  Need a quirky gift for a friend?  I have the place for you!  Ashi Dashi is a new online sock gallery!  Hooray!

Smokers love socks.  And cigarettes.  So could this be any more perfect for them?  And while you're at it, tell them to quit by saying "quit smoking and start sockin'."

What better gag gift for a vegetarian than meat socks?  Your card can say, "Since you won't eat it, try steppin' on it."

Every writer in your life will love these pencil socks.  Your card can say, "Since you can't write with your feet, try these on for size."  Man, I'm getting really good at this card writing business.

Maybe that writer is your favorite child, friend or spouse and so you should get them the matching notebook socks so they have somewhere to write with their pencil socks.  And they can mix and match!!!

Lulu's Will Outfit You This Holiday Season

Need a dress for the office party?  Another one for New Year's?  What about dinner on Christmas night?  You can go one of two ways - get one really expensive dress like this Anna Sui dress (above) that I'm dying over OR you can go to Lulu's and get 3 different ones as well as the cutest accessories in the world for the same price (if not cheaper).

This lil' red number screams Italy-chic!

This plaid dress is more likely my New Year's dress.  It's only $40!!  (Compared to the Anna Sui one at $451 - ugh)

These tights are $13.  I file this under "S" for "Serious Find".

Finger corsage anyone?

This top is for when you say to your date, "Excuse me while I slip into something more comfortable."

P.S. That Anna Sui dress is 40% off at chickdown.com!  Use the promo code "CHRISTMAS".

Hey NYC'ers - Charlotte Ronson Sale!

Okay so I stole this information from another blog - racked.com - but I'm pretty sure they stole it from somewhere else so all is fair game, right?  Anywho, Charlotte Ronson is having a sample sale starting tomorrow till Friday!  10am - 7pm @ 1071 Sixth Avenue between 40th and 41st Streets, Suite 301.  Oh man, her stuff is too good.  Here's what I'm hoping to bring home:

Char-Ro makes a mean short sleeved jacket.  Well done, girlfriend!

She's done us all a major solid by inventing this classic black skirt.

This might be my New Year's dress.  Weeeee!

Books Are The Best Presents

Books really are they gift that keep on giving because if you are anything like me you find joy in swapping books with friends.  Oh joy!  So here are some great books that are out there right now that seem to appeal to everyone.  Or I'll find a little something for everyone.  I highly suggest supporting your local bookstore.  Word on Franklin St. in Greenpoint, Brooklyn is far and away my favorite.  If you can't get out due to fear of freezing, check out Abe Books online - they are like the independent Borders with possibly the best selection of used books for $1.00.  If Borders is the winning venue for you - shop online and use this promo code - SAT5604A - and get 30% off!

I am a teenager when it comes to reading so these are all really great books for teens OR adults.  Most are girl-friendly but I'm gonna include some dude ones too.  First off - Prep.  This is the ultimate "oh my god that was my freaking life as a teen" book.  Not in that I was shipped off to boarding school, but more in that I over thought everything and the book encapsulates every feeling I've ever had - some of which I still have!  Ugh (boots).

Okay, I have the Prep for boys - and it's non-fiction!  Paul Feig, the author of Kick Me:  Adventures in Adolescence is responsible for the life-changing television Freaks & Geeks.  Along with Judd Apatow, I owe many hours of bliss to him.  If you do not know this show, then go and buy it.  Don't rent it.  That will not do.  Buy and watch it and fall in love for the first time.  Okay, so he wrote this book and it's filled with embarrassing stories of masturbation and gym class.  And yes, they go together.

Again, this could apply to a cool teenager or yourself or really to anyone with a sense of humor and the slightest knowledge of who Motley Crue is.  The Dirt is one of the juiciest, most insane rock stories ever.  Each band member tells their own version of what they were going through during their quick rise to fame and the aftermath of making it big.  Think sex, drugs and more sex.  Even with a burrito!

So lets say you get The Dirt for a guy, what do you get for his twin sister?  Or your other cousin???  While any girl after my own heart would love to get The Dirt, a more obviously girl version of that book is the juicy tell-all I'm With the Band:  Confessions of a Groupie.  Pamela Des Barres paved the way for every other rock tell-all that came in her wake and if I were a college professor teaching cultural studies I bet I'd teach that this was the start of our tabloid and celebrity culture.  This is good.  Although be careful how old people are reading these two rock books - there is some seriously graphic stuff, but that makes it all the more exciting for teens, no?

Know a teen with a killer interest?  Special Topics in Calamity Physics is one of my all time favorite books.  Put it on your list as well as get it for your sister or younger cousin.  It's very Dawson's Creek meets Buffy sans the vampires but with all the suspense.  I can't recommend it enough!

Have a younger boy you need to buy for?  Or maybe it's a young girl?  Or maybe it's for your friend who is crafty and nostalgic for their childhood?  I cannot tell you how awesome these books are.  The Dangerous Book for Boys and The Daring Book for Girls.  I have the girls one and have perused the boys one and I love them both.  Learn how to make a paper airplane, build a treehouse and the history of princesses.  In a nutshell, it's everything you've ever wanted to know.  I also like getting gifts on Christmas that allow for you to explore them after all the presents are opened and you are lounging with coffee in your pj's.  These books are perfect for that.

So if you need to get a book for your parents and they aren't into stories of teenage woe, then hmmm, I might not be able to help.  But perhaps you could get your mom Eat, Pray, Love.  That seems to be a mom book.  I've never read it but I did interview the author once and she was so nice and gracious.  That's a solid combo in my book.  For dad?  My dad is really into The Looming Tower:  Al-Qaeda and the Road to 9/11.   I have no idea what it's about but it seems dad-friendly.  It's a joke, people.  But you can lighten the mood by telling a great 9/11 joke after you give it to him.

Knock, knock.
Who's there?
9/11.
9/11 who?
I thought you said you'd never forget.

Happy holidays!!!
